Roulette payout calculator: payouts, odds and house edge
A single number pays 35 to 1 and red pays 1 to 1, and on a single zero wheel every standard bet keeps the same 2.70% edge (5.26% with a double zero). Pick a wheel and your bets to see what they pay, how often they win and what they cost per spin.
Work out your bets
A worked example: 10 points straight up and 10 points on red, on a single zero wheel.
| Bet | Stake | Pays | A win returns | Chance of winning | House edge | Average cost per spin |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Straight up (one number) | 10 | 35 to 1 | 360 | 1 in 37 (2.7%) | 2.70% | 0.27 |
| Red | 10 | 1 to 1 | 20 | 18 in 37 (48.6%) | 2.70% | 0.27 |
| All bets | 20 | 2.70% | 0.54 |
Points staked per spin: 20. Average cost per spin: 0.54 points, a house edge of 2.70%.
{n} to 1 {n} in {d} ({p}) {x}% Points staked per spin: {stake}. Average cost per spin: {cost} points, a house edge of {edge}. Add a bet to see what it pays and what it costs. Enter each stake as a whole number of points from 1 to 1,000,000. Only on a double zero wheel: choose that wheel to price it. Bets that exist only on a double zero wheel are left out of these figures. The key payouts at a glance

Every bet with its exact probability and house edge is in the European payout chart and the American payout chart.
For a doubling system on an even money bet, the Martingale calculator works out the stake ladder, the losing run that ends a session and the exact chance of meeting it.
How the figures are worked out
A winning bet returns its stake plus the payout: a 10 point straight up bet pays 350 and returns 360. Its chance is the pockets it covers out of the pockets on the wheel: 1 in 37 on a single zero wheel, 1 in 38 on a double zero wheel.
Every standard payout is set as if the wheel had 36 pockets. On 37 pockets every bet returns 36 in 37 points per point staked on average, so the house keeps 1 in 37, which is 2.70%. On 38 pockets it keeps 2 in 38, which is 5.26%, and the five number bet on 0, 00, 1, 2 and 3, which pays 6 to 1 for 5 pockets, keeps 7.89%.
The average cost per spin is the stake times the house edge. It is an average over many spins, not the cost of any one spin, which either wins or loses. Adding bets adds their costs, so the edge of a mix of bets is the average of their edges, weighted by their stakes: no combination brings it below the lowest edge among them, and no betting system beats it.
The table rounds each cost to two decimals and works the total out from the exact figures, so the rows may not add up to the total exactly.
Common questions
How do you calculate a roulette payout?
Multiply the stake by the payout, then add the stake back: a split pays 17 to 1, so a winning 10 point split returns 180 points, 170 of profit plus the 10 staked.
What are the odds in European roulette?
A bet wins as often as the pockets it covers out of 37: a single number 1 in 37 (2.7%), red or black 18 in 37 (48.6%), a dozen 12 in 37 (32.4%). Every standard bet keeps the same 2.70% house edge.
What does 00 pay in roulette?
A straight up bet on 00 pays 35 to 1, like any single number, but it covers 1 pocket of 38, so the house keeps 5.26% of every point staked. The American payout chart lists every double zero bet.
